About this Program

This profound and innovative course takes Yoga Therapy to a deeper level. Learn specific and immediately useful tools to release trapped psychosomatic patterns and free the body’s innate healing potential. Presented in an applicable and relatable way, teachings on esoteric understanding of energy are combined with practical tools and practices. Body-based facilitation & coaching techniques can be applied with or without yoga poses in one-on-one private sessions or applied to any style of yoga, life coaching, therapy or bodywork that you offer. Besides three powerful facilitation techniques, you will learn how to guide poses to release and reprogram unhelpful physical, mental and emotional patterns. Support yourself and others to reduce symptoms and improve function not only from the outside in, but from the inside out! Includes detailed digital manual and reference videos.

  • Yogic theory of energy & healing
  • How to conduct a body scan & assess the results
  • Lead an individual session or group yoga therapy class that addresses common holding zones in the body
  • How to guide three different yoga therapy coaching techniques to help you decode your body’s messages.

How Can I Use My Hours?

  • This course is a 40 hour certification course and stands on its own. You may use these hours to continue on to Yoga Therapy II to become a 120hr Yoga Therapy practitioner.
  • Completion of Yoga Therapy I and II count towards Amrit Yoga Institute’s 800hr IAYT accredited yoga therapist program.
  • If you are already a member of IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists), this course may used towards continuing education hours

Practicum: For those going on to Yoga Therapy II you will need to complete and submit documentation for the following:

  • Lead 3 yoga therapy classes.
  • Practice all the facilitation techniques you have learned at least once.
  • These hours will count towards the 120hr certification you receive in Yoga Therapy II

Helpful Trip Information

The retreat is located about 30 minutes south of the city of Kalamata, in a quiet olive grove amidst the sea and blue skies. The closest village is Kallianeika. There is airport access both from Athens Airport (3 hours from ZR) and from Kalamata Airport (30-40min from ZR).

Flights to Athens International Airport (ATH) and transportation to Zen Rocks:
  • All major airlines fly to Athens international airport, called Eleftherios Venizelos. Zen Rocks is about a 2.5-3 hours’ drive from Athens. We can arrange a private transport for you and/ or your group or you can rent a car to drive yourself to Zen Rocks. The ride is beautiful, and you can enjoy a direct ride along the new Athens-Kalamata highway, or you can make stops in places like the sites of Ancient Mycenae, Ancient Nemea, the city of Nafplion, and the town of Kalamata.
Flights to/from Kalamata (KLX)
  • More and more there are direct and/or charter flights to the small airport of Kalamata from different European cities. Also, new 30 minutes flights have just started from Athens to Kalamata regional airport are very reasonably priced if booked well in advance. Alternatively, you can fly to Kalamata from the northern Greek town of Thessaloniki.
Transportation options while in Greece
  • The way to reach Zen Rocks is either with their Mini Van for 8 people or by renting a car from Athens or Kalamata and drive around on your own. Let Zen Rocks know if you would be interested in sharing a ride in the MiniVan with others. Zen Rocks office can also assist you with your car rental reservation. Or you can make your booking directly. During your stay at Zen Rocks their minivan is available for hire along with an experienced driver.
  • By taxi in a shared ride, if you are coming from Athens airport, 3 hours distance, about 110€ now… prices went up this year due to less people in shared taxi rides.  If you take a bus from Athens to Kalamata it costs 25€ and there is transfer costs from Kalamata to ZR.
  • By taxi from Kalamata Airport, which is 40 minutes from Zen Rocks, about 50€.
